Privacy policy

¡Ey, mae! is a service of INVERSIONES MÚLTIPLES E & V LIMITADA, Costa Rica (hereinafter «¡Ey, mae!»). We process your data in accordance with Costa Rica's Law 8968 on the Protection of Persons with regard to the Processing of their Personal Data and its regulations. What data we collect

• If you search: you do not need an account. We do not store your searches with your name. If you allow location access, we use it only on your phone to suggest your canton; we do not send or store it.
• If you contact a business: we count anonymously how many times each business is contacted per day (with a random identifier from your browser, without your name or number), to show the business how many people are looking for it.
• If you create your business page: your account email and the information you choose to publish (name, trade, canton, areas, WhatsApp, phone, description, hours, social media and logo).
• If you recommend someone: the trade, the canton, the reason and, if you give it, the name of the person recommended. We do not ask for or store the phone number of the person recommended: you are the one who sends them the invitation.
• If you report a page: the reason, the details you write and your account, to prevent fake reports.

What we use it for

To show the directory, let people contact you, manage your page, prevent abuse and fraud, and improve the service. We do not sell, transfer or reproduce your data, nor use it for third-party advertising. A business's information is used only so that customers can find and contact it.

What is published

Only what the business authorizes when creating its page. The exact address is not requested. Recommendations are shown without the name of the person recommending, and only if that person allowed it.

Where it is stored

On Google Cloud (Firebase) services, with an encrypted connection and access rules that prevent one business from seeing another's data. Some servers may be outside Costa Rica.

Your rights

You can access, correct or delete your information. The owner of a page can change or delete it at any time from «My business». For any other request, or if someone published your details without permission, write to privacidad@eymae.cr and we will reply within the time required by law.

How long

As long as your page exists. When you delete it, it is removed from the directory immediately; backup copies are deleted within 90 days at most.

Cookies and what is stored on your phone

We do not use advertising cookies, social media pixels or third-party trackers. We do not sell or share your data with advertisers. This is the only thing that may be stored in your browser:

• Essential (always): your session if you sign in to «My business» (handled by Google's Firebase), your choice in the privacy notice and the businesses you yourself tap «Save» on.
• Visit measurement: we count how many people visit each page with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies, stores nothing on your phone and identifies no one.
• Protection against bots: we use Google reCAPTCHA to tell people apart from automated programs that abuse the site; Google processes that data according to its own privacy policy.
• Only if you accept: the «Places you viewed» list, which stays only on your phone and is never sent anywhere, and a random identifier to count contacts to each business anonymously without duplicates. If you choose «Only necessary», that count is done only for that visit.

If you visit us from another country

• European Union, United Kingdom and Switzerland (GDPR): we process your data to provide the service you request (contract), with your consent for optional features, and on the basis of legitimate interest to prevent fraud. You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. Data is stored on Google servers, which may be in the United States, with the contractual safeguards Google offers for these transfers.
• United States (including California): we do not sell or «share» personal information for advertising. We honor browser privacy signals (such as Global Privacy Control), although we do not track you in the first place.
• Minors: ¡Ey, mae! is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. You must be of legal age to create a business page.

Security

We use an encrypted connection (https), rules that prevent an account from reading other people's data, email verification and a log of administrative changes. If you suspect a security problem, write to soporte@eymae.cr.
